Scorching!

Earlier in the year, it seemed to rain every day and our garden was a soggy mess of drowned plants. My kale washed away completely and the Swiss chard looked pathetic. But we’ve traded the rain for scorching heat and dry weather. So now the garden is baking in the sun, the ground is cracking, and the mosquitoes are out in droves.

And with summer fully here, let’s think about all the outdoor activities. There are the barbecues, the summer soft ball games, golfing, swimming, hikes in nature.

We all love doing things in the summer without the cold and rain or snow of winter. But there are dangers here, too.

Make sure you stay hydrated when you’re outdoors. It’s easy to get busy and forget to drink. But over heating is a dangerous thing. I find it most difficult when swimming. Since you’re already wet, you don’t notice that you’re also sweating, making it a tricky combo.

Also, sunscreen is a thing. I know most of us know this, but a little reminder won’t hurt.

If you’re going out into nature, please cover up. I see people all the time walking around through the woods or meadows, up mountain trails, in shorts and sandals. Between the bugs, the rough terrain, and brush and brambles, a lightweight over shirt and lightweight pants would keep you protected. And don’t forget some decent shoes.

As for me, I’m editing another book right now, after releasing my latest shifter romance in June. If you’re a fan of paranormal romance and fantasy, check it out! Look for Old Flame at Amazon.

Holiday Weekend!

Can you believe we’re in the middle of summer already? With the 4th of July weekend here?

I don’t know about you, but this year has flown by.

I know the holiday was yesterday, but a lot of people are still going to be celebrating tonight and this weekend. For some, it’s difficult to visit unless you have a longer weekend for the drive.

So, barbecues, cold drinks, maybe bonfires, fireworks… All the good stuff, right?

But please stay safe. It has been dry around here lately, though they’re predicting a chance of rain tonight. Fireworks can set grass fires in dry weather, so before you celebrate too heartily, make sure there won’t be any unfortunate accidents.

And don’t forget your sunscreen while you’re sipping your sweet tea or other cold drink around the pool or the deck. It’s easy to get caught up in visiting and forget, but who wants a bodacious sunburn?

May I suggest you check at L’bri for your sun and fun products? They’re among my favorite things! I particularly like the Aloe Vera Gel. It’s perfect after too much sun. And a little bit of it goes a long way, so be careful the first time you try it!

Fireworks are a definite thing around the 4th, but they can be dangerous. Don’t add a trip to the ER this weekend.

So have fun, stay cool, and play safely.

And remember,

Always Look For the Beauty Around You

Summer is Here

Memorial Day weekend definitely signals the arrival of summer, whether Mother Nature agrees or not. Of course, our daytime temperatures have been in the 80’s this week, even if the nights have been chilly.

But with the arrival of summer, we’re spending more time outside around the pool, having BBQ’s, walking and hiking. And that means sunburn, unless we take some precautions.

I don’t know which products you use, but if you’re looking for something a little more natural, I would recommend the L’Bri products. By replacing the alcohol in their skincare line with aloe vera gel, they’ve increased their moisturizing ability. As well as having a full set of skin care and body care products, they have a wonderful sunscreen and a moisturizer with sunscreen which work wonderfully.

Their lotions, body butters, and body wash are available in several different scents, or you can get them fragrance free.

A friend of mine from high school introduced me to these products several years ago and I fell in love with them. I particularly like the body butter, the rejuvenating foot cream, and the aloe vera gel.

They also have hair care products for you.

Want a new look for summer?

They also have a complete line of makeup on offer!

So go into summer with confidence and pamper your skin.

Last Sunday in May

Yes, Summer is almost upon us, and the past two days have given us a preview of it here in Georgia.

So what else has been happening in my world?

We had a solid week of drizzle and rain, with temperatures in the 60’s. So now, during the past two days, the rain has ended and the temperatures have soared into the 80’s. Great for the tomatoes, but I’m not so keen on the shift.

The deck garden is looking great, with all my little herbs beginning to come around now that the temperatures are a little warmer. I have plenty of oregano and several basil starts potted and growing, as well as some celery and onions.

The tomatoes in the back yard look great and have started reaching for the sky. Not sure about the poblano chiles. They look a little peaked at the moment. Maybe they didn’t like all the rain.

But with summer here, it’s definitely time to think about your summer skincare and sunscreen.

Have you checked out L’Bri? With aloe vera replacing the alcohol in their products, there is no drying effect, only wonderful moisturizing.

They also carry hair care products, makeup, and household supplies. So go check it out! L’Bri — Pure and Natural.

Summer Is On the Way

At least, I think it is. We’ve had most of a week of dark, drizzly rain here lately, so it’s not looking particularly summery. About a week ago, we had temperatures up in the 70’s and there was a definite promise of summer in the air.

Which got me to thinking about sunscreen.

And then I got the new notice from L’Bri that their sunscreen products are on special this June!

Have you tried their sunscreen? Combining aloe with zinc oxide, soothing botanicals and moisturizing, antioxidant-rich fruit oils to replenish moisture and protect, they don’t leave any chalky feeling as they shield you from UVA and UVB.

Go on over and check out the specials. And while you’re there, you may find something else you’ll love. I particularly like their fragrance-free lotions and body wash, and the Aloe Vera Barbadensis Jelly. If you get a little too much sun, it is marvelous for cooling the burn.

So don’t wait. Grab a cold drink and head on over.
